A Sunset Flight at Coral Sea Marina It was just before sunset in Airlie Beach. The wind had dropped, the Coral Sea stretched out in glassy stillness, and golden light began to slide across the Sorrento waterfront. My wife stood beside me, as the drone lifted into the sky. The soft hum faded behind us as we watched the camera feed come to life.

From above, Coral Sea Marina looked like a painting, neat rows of yachts, their masts casting long shadows over turquoise water. The shoreline curved gently, kissed by the fading sun. Sorrento’s rooftops caught the light, glowing with warmth against the green hillside. We flew out farther, just enough to see the full arc of the marina wrapped in sunset gold. No people. No rush. Just silence and sky. For a moment, it was like the world slowed down, the kind of quiet only found between wind and light. Just the two of us. Watching it all unfold from above.
