Description

A film has the power to plant a seed, a single scene that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll.

For me, that scene came from The Da Vinci Code released in 2006, where the camera glides down beneath the Louvre Museum in Paris to reveal the glass Inverted Pyramid, a place wrapped in mystery, geometry, and symbolism. In the film, this structure becomes more than architecture. The story presents the pyramid as a secret chamber, the supposed resting place of the Holy Grail, hidden in plain sight beneath the Carrousel du Louvre.

Before seeing that scene, awareness of the pyramid was absent, but from that moment, a clear goal emerged: one day, a photograph must be made.

Eleven years later, that opportunity finally arrived. After traveling from Australia with cameras in tow, arrival in Paris brought jet lag and wide eyes, standing beneath the very glass structure that had fascinated for so long. The Inverted Pyramid was more than a tourist attraction; it felt like a portal into history, fiction, and cinematic legend all at once.

Capturing the scene as envisioned presented challenges. This spot ranks among the most visited areas of the Louvre, always buzzing with tourists, security personnel, and constant motion. Multiple visits followed at different hours, observing shifting light and ebbing crowds. The goal was a clean shot with no people, no distractions, just the glass, the symmetry, and the quiet weight of symbolism.

Early one morning, just as the museum opened, fortune smiled. The halls were momentarily empty. The silence felt surreal.

In that fleeting moment, the camera rose and captured the Inverted Pyramid, perfectly framed and still. No crowds. No noise. Only the iconic glass structure pointing downward, as if guarding a secret beneath the floor.

Standing where fiction and reality blur, where art, history, and mystery collide defines the passion behind photography.

What began as a scene on a screen thousands of miles away became a real moment in front of the lens.

That represents the magic of travel, film, and photography. An unknown image, story, or movie might change a path forever.
