Description
Traveling from Australia to Paris is no small feat. After 16,000 kilometers, several time zones, and a few in-flight films, I finally arrived in the City of Love. This was not just another stop on my photography journey. This was the destination: the Louvre Museum.
Ranked as the most visited museum in the world, with 8.7 million visitors annually, the Louvre goes beyond fame to become something monumental. Spanning over 73,000 square meters and holding a staggering estimated value of 45 billion dollars, the museum represents a place where art, culture, and history collide on an epic scale.
I have photographed countless landmarks across the globe, but standing in the courtyard of the Louvre felt truly surreal. The sharp angles of the iconic glass pyramid slice through the air, providing a striking contrast to the ornate façades of the centuries-old palace behind. This is where ancient and modern meet, a place every photographer dreams of.
Capturing this scene required more than simple point and shoot.
With millions of visitors passing through each year, finding a quiet moment resembles catching lightning in a bottle. I returned at different times: early mornings, blue hour, even at night, waiting for the perfect combination of light, mood, and crowd. Finally, an early summer morning with clear blue skies presented that moment.
Photographing the Louvre involved more than documenting a structure. The goal was to honor a place that holds the world’s artistic legacy. This was about chasing a moment of stillness inside a space visited by millions.
From the other side of the world, armed with a dream and a camera, I arrived seeking one perfect image.
That image became a reality.
